Kitchen Designers Leeds

Here at Kreativ, we’ve designed and installed hundreds of different kitchens for clients throughout Yorkshire. However, one style, in particular, is especially close to our hearts, and that’s the modern kitchen. Combining clean lines, elegant detailing, and superb functionality, the modern kitchen undeniably captured our imagination, and we have since refined our service to focus on this exceptional kitchen style. Striking a fantastic balance between practicality and stylish looks, the modern kitchen provides the ideal backdrop to contemporary living. To share our appreciation of modern kitchens and showcase their remarkable versatility, we’ve put together this quick blog exploring some of the different contemporary kitchens we’ve created.

Modern kitchens can be recognised by their clean, minimal, and uncluttered aesthetic. The style usually comprises of either a flat panel or handleless design. Flat-panel or slab doors are simple, unadorned lay-on doors. They can be opened and closed using a standard handle and concealed hinge mechanism. True handleless kitchens like the ones we use here at Kreativ are very different from modern flat-panel doors. A system of cleverly engineered rails creates a sleek gap behind the face of the cabinet, allowing you to grab hold of the door panel to pull the unit open. With a complete lack of functional detailing, a handleless kitchen is the ultimate choice if you’re looking to create a cutting-edge modern interior. However, both handle and handleless styles offer wonderful design flexibility.

With a huge variety of colours, finishes, layouts, worktops and accessories to choose from, the only thing limiting your contemporary kitchen design is your imagination.

Characterised by fresh and airy monochrome colour schemes, simple uncluttered lines, and perfectly organised surfaces, the Scandinavian design style is world-renowned for its timeless elegance and sophistication. As an aesthetic originating in the 1950s, a Scandinavian interior appears simultaneously classic and completely on-trend. In the kitchen below, a soft matt graphite cabinet finish paired with white quartz worktops and crisp white walls creates the perfect canvas upon which to introduce stylish black pendant lights and monochrome artworks. The minimal design underpinned by a natural wood floor creates a metropolitan Scandi penthouse vibe.

Kitchens have been constructed from timber for hundreds of years. However, leaving the natural finish of the wood exposed is a look that has often veered in and out of fashion. The latest wood kitchen trends are far removed from that of the farmhouse style kitchens of the 1990s. Calling upon ultra-stylish contemporary German and Japanese interior design styles, the wood finish combines with sleek minimal cabinetry to bring a tranquil and subtly luxurious quality to the room. Opting for integrated appliances where possible and hiding smaller appliances within specially designed pantry units adds to the pristine finish. This completely seamless modern kitchen style is known as the concealed kitchen.

While the minimalist concealed kitchen is ideal for creating a refined and sophisticated backdrop to open-plan living, slightly less disciplined modern kitchens can embody a wonderful sense of laidback character and charm. Featuring warm and vibrant colours alongside relaxed open shelving and quirky accessories, this beautiful kitchen is perfect for casual family living. From our client’s favourite cookbooks to their retro Dualit toaster, a few perfectly placed finishing touches bring fantastic personality to the space while establishing a lovely inviting ambience.

As contemporary kitchens have become increasingly popular, manufacturers have developed a growing collection of striking and original cabinet finishes to choose from, including textured slates, oxidised metals, and concrete effect veneers. These urban industrial surface designs can establish a dramatic edge to your interior, especially when paired with stylish glass splashbacks, cool pendant lights, and slick modern appliances. A dark and distinctive industrial finish brings a cutting-edge look to a modern kitchen.

Bright, clean, minimal, and timeless, the white kitchen has been a popular design choice in modern and classic kitchens alike. White kitchens draw light into a room creating a spacious and airy feel while their simple cohesive look oozes effortless style. Balancing an all-white kitchen with neutral elements such a grey or natural wood accents creates a sense of depth, ensuring your white kitchen doesn’t look washed out. The gloss finish in the kitchen below furthers the crisp and sleek modern aesthetic.
